Turning off Public Quick Notes

Previously, I have used the command to try to turn off the quick notes. It tells me to use the /togqn command to turn off only public quick notes. However, I did that, and it all of a sudden said that I turned off all quick notes, so I'm confused as to whether the /togqn command is used for turning off all quick notes or just the public quick notes.

it's /togpub to turn publics off. if you type /help you get all the commands. if you did that and it told you to use /togqn then it just needs to be updated

If typing /togqn didn't work, you may have not had all quicknotes turned on. If you type /togpub, for example, and then later type /togqn you may have ended up doing the reverse of what you wanted. So make sure all quicknotes are turned on first. Then to turn off only publics type /togpub, and to turn them all off, type /togqn. Another way is to go into your account settings and check the appropriate checkbox, but this takes longer.

Thank you for the helpful comments.

I had that problem once before, too. The command did used to be /togqn to simply turn off publics, and I hadn't been aware that they changed it, and I did the same thing it sounds like Hairy Monster did. I ended up going into my profile and turned them off that way. So thank you guys for updating me on what the shortcuts are to do it.

i personally think it should have been left alone, and also not having any warning that they switched the command like that caused some problems. i think a few of my friends have wanted to turn publics off so they use the /togqn command only to wonder why they don't get any qns of any sort.

And, as far as I know, the command to turn just privates off, /togpriv, still doesn't work correctly. People can send you a private qn, but if you reply, you get a message that it could not be sent. Even though if the person sending you the private qn pays attention they will see in the combo box next to your name that you have private qn's turned off, some stupid people still try to send them.

If those idiots can't update things on here, then why don't they just leave those commands alone? This goes back to what Leebral Lady posted concerning the football pools.

yeah, the cl's do have other responsibilities after all.

That's true, but one of their main jobs is to keep things updated. Maybe my post was a little too harsh, but they do need to keep things updated so people won't be confused.

actually, if I'm remembering correctly there was a news announcement about it, at least I remember finding out about it somehow. The first time I typed /togqn but that was simply a matter of forgetting about it, and I recall typing /togpub shortly thereafter.
As for the help file, well, see for yourself...

/TOGPRIV
Toggles between receiving and blocking of private quicknotes
/TOGPUB
Toggles between receiving and blocking of public quicknotes
/TOGQN
Toggles between receiving and blocking of all quicknotes

Although, in reading this, I notice that they didn't update the /me command to reflect the new format.
